OUR LOWER; MIDDLE AND UPPER SECONDARY
The Schmidt Schule offers the Palestinian Tawjihi and the German International Abitur as university entrance qualifications. As an official "German School Abroad" providing German School Leaving Certificates Schmidt-Schule is under the auspice of the German authorities. The German Foreign Office, the ZfA (= Federal Level) and the Federal States have a common responsibility in order to guarantee the quality of teaching and learning at Schmidt-Schule.
In the Middle and Upper School, we offer two different curricula for the Abitur branch and the Tawjihi section. German is also a compulsory foreign language in the Tawjihi section up to Year 12. The students have the opportunity to acquire the German Language Diploma of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (DSD I, DSD II). In both sections, value is placed not only on analytical skills but also on critical reflection, presentation and discussion as well as project work. This ensures an optimal level of learning success and prepares for lifelong learning. Smart boards, tablets, IT room, media centre and state-of-the-art laboratories are available as a learning environment.
Our pupils grow up speaking four languages: German, English, Arabic (each from grade 1) and Hebrew (from grade 7) are compulsory subjects until graduation.
The programme at the Schmidt Schule is complemented by numerous extracurricular activities such as theatre, Lego robotics, chemistry/physics, art, dance, Model United Nation, music and sports.
Intercultural encounters are of particular importance at the school. Among other things, the students have the opportunity to take part in student exchanges with Germany in Years 9 and 11. International competitions such as "Jugend Musiziert" also give the students the opportunity to learn "beyond borders".
